4 Reasons Why Saying 'Yes' To A Wedding Album Is A No-Brainer
You’re going to say ‘yes’ to the dress. You’re definitely going to say ‘yes’ to the venue, the rings, the cake and the band. But you should really also say ‘yes’ to a wedding album. There is no better way to memorise the best moments of your wedding than with a beautiful album that will sit on your coffee table for years to come. It invites people to look at it. And you get the chance to experience your wedding all over again.
Shooting on digital might be easier, but preserving on digital is definitely not the way to go. You’re going to spend a lot of money on your wedding, the same way I’m going to spend a lot of time on your photos. So why keep them cooped up in a dusty old USB stick? In case you need any more convincing, here are four reasons why a Cronulla wedding album is a really good idea.
1 - Unfortunately, Your Memories Are Going to Fade
There’s no doubt that you’ll create a thousand vivid memories on your wedding day. However, over time, those memories will fade. Yes, it’s unfortunate, but it happens to all of us. While you might remember the general impression and feeling of your big day, some details might get lost along the way. That’s when a wedding album can help.
When you’ve got a beautiful album an arm’s reach away, reliving your wedding in all its glorious detail is as simple as opening a book. You’ll be able to look back ten, twenty, thirty years from now with the same vibrance and atmosphere that swept you up on the day.
You’ll also have something beautiful to pass down to future generations as a family heirloom. I don’t reckon your grandkids would be too impressed if you handed them that dusty old USB stick. In fact, they probably wouldn’t even know what to do with it. Which leads me to my next point...
2 - Technology is Changing Fast
Who can keep up with it anymore? Well, being a professional photographer, it’s kind of my job to keep up. But when it comes to digital storage and devices, who knows what the future might hold. You might think you’re saving money by storing your shots on a drive, but here’s the sad truth; all drives fail eventually.
If you haven’t backed up your photos (or can’t find the backup, which is more likely) then you could be looking at an expensive salvaging procedure with no guarantee of success.
On top of that, technology really is changing at a rapid pace. There’s no guarantee you’ll be able to just look at your pictures when you want to in the future, without needing to rig up ye olde PC laptop. Technology might seem easier; but in this case, it’s potentially more awkward. An album is never awkward, and you can bet that books won’t be going out of fashion anytime soon; they’ve survived this long, after all.
3 - Don’t Compromise
Think of all the effort you’ll put into your wedding. Everyone wants the very best of everything on the day. Sure, some things have to be compromised on, but ideally you’ll want everything as close to perfect as can be.
You’re going to spend a chunk of money on the best photographer you can find. You’re going to hunt through online portfolios, chat to prospective shooters, all with the hope of finding that one photographer who’s going to click with you as a couple. You want to look your best on your wedding day. Of course you’re not going to compromise on a photographer. If your cousin offered up his friend to take pictures for free, there’s no way you’d take it. You want to invest in something of quality.
So don’t compromise on the way you display these photos. Wedding photographers like myself work super hard to capture the very best shots we can. You work super hard to look the best you can. Why fall at the last hurdle? Don’t compromise on the quality of the print or the way you display it. Printed photos are beautiful. Leafing through a gorgeous album is much more dignified than skimming through a file on a desktop.
4 - Show Off All Your Hard Work
The final reason to invest in a wedding album is simple; you want to show off all your hard work! Weddings are a lot of fun at the end of the day (or night), but everyone knows how much thought, preparation and planning go into them. I’ve been to more than my fair share; every couple I work with has been laser-focused on making the day as good as it can possibly be.
So with all the hard work that’s gone in, you want to show it off properly, right? A wedding album gives you the perfect chance to do that. A beautiful cover placed on a coffee table will instinctively grab visitors’ attention and before they know it, they’ll be reaching across to investigate.
An album also allows you to revisit your wedding at a moment’s notice. Instead of fumbling around for hard drives and wires, simply pick up the book and get showing off!
Your love story deserves to be told and remembered across generations in the best possible way. Solely digital images might be cheaper, but they’re a heavy compromise on both quality and accessibility. I want what’s best for my clients and for me, a wedding album seems like a no-brainer; get in touch if you want to chat through some options!
