Yes, getting married in the rain is no one’s idea of fun. Close to the sea? Great for those sunset wedding shots. Tasty meal? Check. Cocktails, drinks and a lively bar? Check, check and check. Before you know it, you’ve got a list of requirements longer than your arm and no idea where to start looking. In fact, this list is becoming so specific that you might even begin to think that the perfect wedding location doesn’t exist. That is until you visit Cronulla.

This laidback slice of Sydney beauty provides unbeatable views and is doused in the unmistakable aroma of the ocean, making it one of my favourite Cronulla wedding destinations. Situated smack bang in the middle of Cronulla’s famous strip of white sandy beaches, Summer Salt features a 180-degree view of the best scenery Sydney has to offer. This is one of the more relaxed offerings in the Cronulla wedding destination line-up, but it still ranks as one of the finest in the area. Not only will Summer Salt impress your guests with its beautiful location, it will also leave them full and satisfied with fantastic food. Think contemporary Australian with a unique twist of Asian flavour. The venue books a lot of weddings and will provide you with your very own wedding coordinator to ensure the day goes as smoothly as possible. Next Door is a fun venue that blurs the lines between café, restaurant and bar. This is another beach-side spot that sits on the shores of North Cronulla beach. Catering-wise, their focus is on fresh, seasonal produce, but its drinks game is where Next Door really shines. Serving some of the best cocktails in the area, the venue is also a prime spot for live music, and features a large dancing area just waiting to be stormed (after your first dance, of course!). It’s also a great spot to catch a sunset, and yes, they’re pretty damn spectacular in Cronulla. Throw in some friendly, attentive staff, and you’ve got one of the premium venues in town. If your goal is to let your hair down at your wedding reception, take a stroll Next Door for maximum fun.

3 - Cook at Kurnell

An up-and-comer in the Cronulla wedding venue ranks, Cook at Kurnell looks all set to be the next big thing. Located in the idyllic surrounds of Silver Beach, the scenery is about as picture perfect as you can get, and makes a fantastic backdrop for jaw-dropping shots of the big day. If you’re looking for newlywed photos that feature the most stunning sunset in town, head to Cook at Kurnell for unparalleled views over Port Botany. Food is served out of a vintage Airstream van, lending the venue a stripped-back beachy vibe that’s accentuated with a little twist of Mediterranean-meets-Miami fun. These guys do summer all year round, with an array of amazing, zesty cocktails and a menu full of sumptuous, fresh produce. With the added bonus of awesome live music, Cook at Kurnell could be the perfect way to kick off your Cronulla wedding night in undeniable style.

Some people dream of arriving to their wedding by limo, others want a motorcycle or a Vespa...maybe even a horse! But if you’re getting married in Cronulla, one of Australia’s most amazing beachside locations, the coolest way to arrive is by boat. And if that’s your dream, I recommend that you get married at Cronulla Sailing Club. Located on the gorgeous Gunnamatta Bay, its classy, relaxed atmosphere is charming and elegant and will make for some truly spectacular wedding photos. You’ll feel as if you’re practically on the water, as its large, outdoor entertainment area spreads out over the sea below. For an authentic Australian experience, the Cronulla Sailing Club can’t be beaten, and if your husband or wife happens to be a boat fanatic then this is certainly the best wedding destination in Cronulla for your big day.

OK, maybe you don’t want a close-up view of the sea. Maybe you’re after a bird’s-eye view of the entire bay. In that case, you should head to Rydges Cronulla, one of the tallest buildings in the area. They also provide accommodation, which means you can settle in for a long night of fun, secure in the knowledge that your bed is a pebble’s throw away.
