Where To Shoot Your Engagement Photos In Cronulla

Whether you’re shooting your engagement photos in Cronulla or any other beachside location, you’ll definitely have seen tons of other couples showing off their amazing, sand-speckled photos on Insta. Maybe they’ve been captured mid-proposal, or set hand-in-hand against a blazing sunset - and maybe these have given you a few ideas for your own engagement shoot.

Engagement photos are the perfect way to announce your news to the world and look stunning while you’re at it. But to really make them special, you need an expert photographer and a mind-blowing location. Cronulla is ticks this box for sure, as it features gorgeous sandy beaches, crystal blue waters and seafront venues. Fortunately enough, it also happens to be my hometown, so I know all the best spots and backdrops for the perfect snap. Let me take you through five of best places for your engagement photoshoot in Cronulla!

Cape Solander

My first preference for an unbeatable engagement shot would definitely be Cape Solander Lookout. It’s one of the best engagement photo spots in Cronulla hands-down, and also one of the most beautiful landmarks in the area. It features dramatic, sweeping cliffs with that trademark crystal blue sea behind, stretching off into the horizon. The lookout part of the cape features a natural viewing platform with an expanse of white rock, providing the perfect spot to frame a happy couple against the gorgeous vista. If you’re lucky, you might even get a few whales or dolphins in the background; Cape Solander also happens to be one of Sydney’s best whale-watching spots.

Voodoo

The only issue with Cronulla is that it’s so beautiful it can quickly become crowded….especially on weekends, the beaches are usually overrun with sun-worshippers and surfers. That’s when you need a local like myself to guide you to the lesser-known but equally stunning spots - like Voodoo. There’s virtually no one around the area, as it’s a little bit out of town. But the variety of backdrops it provides make it worth the trip. It’s got silky sand dunes, rugged cliff edges and of course, beautiful blue waters. The waves on the shoreline can get quite high; Voodoo is a secret surfing hotspot for wave-chasers who find the famous beaches of Sydney too hectic. If you’re looking to add a little dramatic flair to your engagement photos, this could be the perfect Cronulla wedding engagement location for you.

Silver Beach Kurnell

The sunset shot is an engagement photo classic. But you can’t just settle for any old sunset. You want the biggest, best, most blazing sunset Australia can offer, right? Well luckily enough, Cronulla (and me) have got you covered. At Silver Beach, Kurnell, the sun sets directly in line with the beach, providing the perfect illumination over Botany Bay. The scenery and lighting are just made for photography; if you get here at the right time of day, your engagement photos could literally take people’s breath away. Whether you want to re-enact the proposal or just hold hands by the shore, Silver Beach ensures you’re beautifully lit at all times. Oh, and they’re not joking with the silver. The sand really is some of the best in town.

Salmon Haul Bay

A little hidden gem smack bang in the middle of Cronulla, Salmon Haul Bay can provide your engagement photos with a truly special touch. The area is a landscaped reserve featuring loads of little coves, hideaways and nooks. Some of the features there are truly unique, so if you’re looking to get away from the traditional with your photos, Salmon Haul Bay could be the optimum choice for you. Yes, it also does great sunsets (where doesn’t in Cronulla?!), but it’s got a cosier, more intimate feel than some of the other spots, and you’re sure to get some dynamic and engaging snaps.

Wanda Beach

Look, sometimes ‘traditional’ is exactly what you want. And where better than the beach? There’s something about shooting on a beach that helps couples feel more relaxed, and makes the whole shoot a little more authentic. I often find that this shines through in the photos too, and brings out the best results. However, if the beach is too crowded, it can detract from that relaxed vibe I’m trying to capture. That’s why Wanda Beach is my last (but by no means least) suggestion for Cronulla engagement photos. It’s situated to the north of the city and manages to dodge a lot of the weekend beach traffic that quickly clogs up the more central spots. It gives you everything you could ever want from a beach shoot, with the added bonus of the gorgeous Cronulla city skyline in the background.
